Mr. Sohail Ali Khan
Former Secretary

Mr. Sohail Ali Khan is an officer of the Information Group, with a career spanning over 34 years. He not only possesses expertise in media management but also has a diverse experience in public policy making and formulation of regulatory frameworks.

He holds Masters’ degree in English Language and Literature with distinction from University of Punjab, Lahore and has earned a Bachelor’s degree from Govt. College Lahore in Arabic Language & Literature. He remained the Executive Member in literary societies in Govt. College, Lahore.

He has successfully attended Courses on “Reputation Management in a Digital World Certification from Curtin University Australia” and “Communicating Strategically (Short Course) from Purdue University USA”.

After joining the Civil Service of Pakistan in 1989, Mr. Sohail held various key positions like Principal Information Officer, Press Information Department; Director General, Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC); Director General, Internal Publicity Wing; Managing Director, Shalimar Recording & Broadcasting Company (SRBC); Managing Director, Pakistan Television Corporation (PTVC); Executive Director, Associated Press of Pakistan (APPC); and Director, President Secretariat, (Aiwan-e-Sadr). Moreover, under Section 10, he has served as Deputy Commissioner, Income Tax in Islamabad Region in year 1994-1997.

Mr. Sohail also represented Pakistan abroad as Press Attaché (2000-2005) and Press Counselor (2011-2015) at Jeddah and rendered invaluable services in fostering diplomatic ties with Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Prior the joining the Civil Service, he also worked for the Daily Nation, Lahore and the Daily Frontier Post and hence he has a vast experience in the media industry.
