Minister for Information and Broadcasting Syed Shibli Faraz has said Prime Minister Imran Khan and his party want transparent elections to strengthen democracy in the country.

He was addressing a news conference in Islamabad this afternoon, along with Minister for Science and Technology Chaudhry Fawad Hussain and PTI leader Ali Zafar.

Syed Shibli Faraz said it is unfortunate that Pakistan People's Party and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz nurtured the politics of money and corruption in Pakistan, which adversely affected morality of the nation.  He said recent Senate elections have vindicated our stance that horse-trading is undertaken in the polling process.

Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said Prime Minister Imran Khan and his entire party fully respect all the state institutions, including the Election Commission of Pakistan. He said ECP should have demonstrated its independence and impartiality through acts instead of issuing press releases.

Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said it is joint responsibility of the government and the ECP to evolve a mechanism to ensure transparency in the polling process. He said transparency in elections is the pillar of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's policy.

The Minister for Science and Technology said 177 members of National Assembly belonging to PTI and allied parties have reached Islamabad and hopefully 179 MNA will repose their trust in the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
